10 Awesomely Bad Songs from Childhood

Alex & I were talking the other day about VH1's "40 Most Awesomely Bad..." series and how we both get suckered in every time. I mean, if I stop on the channel I'm stuck there at least an hour. I loved to dance as a young child and music was always on in our home. Here are 10 songs that I still love from the 70's but would rather not admit to loving.

Dancing Queen - Abba~ I can still see them sitting in that helicopter on the back of my album. I thought it was so cool how they all resembled one another too.

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor~ Might as well just get this one out of the way already. I remember roller skating to this song pretending to be the girl in the video. Okay the girl in the lower corner of the video.

Ring My Bell - Anita Ward~ I had NO idea what the title meant or why people looked at me funny when I sang it.

Le Freak - Chic~ I wore this 45 out. My record player was near a window & this played so often that the red label was fading to pink.

Tragedy - Bee Gees~ I couldn't understand the lyrics, I actually thought they said, "Tragedy, the SEAWEED's gone..." & so that is what I sang!

Bad Girls - Donna Summer~ Toot Toot, Yeah- Beep Beep.

It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls~ No need to explain.

Treat Me Right - Pat Benetar~ After my disco phase I discovered rocker chicks were pretty cool.

Rapture - Blondie~ Debbie Harry = Way Cool.

My Sharona - The Knack~ This song could have been released just today for the very first time & it'd be huge even now. Timelessly cool song.

What are 10 songs that you still love from way back when?

Oh actually my favorite song is....

"Bella is a Fella." Quite catchy.

Oh...it's by this great band, kind of punkish...Curtains never match drapes.

What else were you guys talking about....?

Most of my childhood took place in the 60's, so the nusic scene was none too bad - I mean, we got the the Beatles, and Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel.
(Although Petula Clark's "Downtown" is still annoying but catchy, and there was a regrettable amount of Herman's Hermits spread about.)

However, I'm gonna go with "Afternoon Delight" as a top awful-but-like....

I would say:
Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl,

Jessie's Girl and Pour Some Sugar On me are great Janice. Isabella you picked out some really good songs there. I haven't heard of all of them, but I like, I will Survive, Le Freak and My Sharona. The other's I've probably heard but can't put the track with the music. Sorry. But great choices Isabella.

Hugs, Kara
